As caregivers and healthcare workers, we're trained to treat death as a medical problem to solve and control. But death is also a natural part of life.
Deaths, big and small, happen everyday. It is always happening. Our bodies are dynamic and are constantly in some part of the cycle of growth and decay. What can you learn about the meaning of your life by making friends with death?
Death Jam is a virtual, facilitated community conversation about death and grief. It’s like a death cafe but with occasional educational offerings, curated topics, movie nights, and guest speakers.
Approaching our mortality with curiosity can be tender territory. This is a space to explore that terrain together with reverence for our big feelings and the great mystery of life and death.
In this special caregivers' & healthcare workers edition of Death Jam, we will explore questions like: How do I BE with someone at the end of their life? How do I tend to my own feelings and beliefs about death so that I can show up powerfully for those in my care? How do I support my family as we navigate the death of a loved one? What do I want my own end of life experience to look like? What do I want “more time” to look like when it's my time?
